i'm sure all of you know or have at least heard of the heartbreaking book which is a little life. this is a book filled to the brim with heart-gripping details of one man's trauma and abuse and how he struggles to function in everyday life.

following four male friends, the reader is immersed in a highly detailed world in new york city as the characters fall in love, out of love, dabble with alcohol, have sex, get into fights and travel around the globe. the first 200 pages are purely world-building and an accessive introductory of each character. we learn that jude has a troubled past, but do not yet know to what extent. the tears will start to fall slowly afterward, as the truth is uncovered bit by bit and as Jude sinks more and more into self-destructive behavior.

a little life was a book I devoured and gave an easy 5 stars to. with that being said, i would not recommend this book to anyone who is easily triggered, as heavy trauma dumping is encased in this book.

TW: Rape, self-harm, abuse & drug use
