for several months, i have been seeing normal people dominate my fyp on tiktok. some users were saying how much they loved it, and others were saying how it simply wasn't for them. i decided to buy it and give it a read myself so that i could formulate my own opinion. needless to say, i absolutely adored it and go back to it on a weekly basis.
normal people follows our two main protagonists, connell waldron and marianne sheridan, throughout their teenage and adult years. they fall in and out of love several times, but always end up gravitating back to one another.
in high school, marianne was an outspoken, intelligent outcast, with no friends to speak of. connell on the other hand was funny and highly popular. they couldn't be more different from one another but ended up crossing paths quite often, as connell's mother, lorriane, cleans the sheridans family home. one day, marianne decided to admit her feelings for connell, and the rest is history (even though it doesn't always seem that way at times).
this is a book filled with miscommunication, sex, relationships, and heartache. it will remain a favorite of mine forever, and i will recommend it always.
